Coles Chorizo Sausages found contamined with E.Coli

Coles supermarkets have issued an urgent recall of chorizo sausages this week due to chances of E.coli contamination in the product sold in Queensland and New South Wales. The affected sausages are Hans Spanish Chorizo sausages in 250g packages with an expiration date of 1st December 2017.

The company has initiated product recall only to the Spanish chorizo and no other small goods products from the brand had been impacted by the contamination scare.

Escherichia coli (or E. coli) is the most prevalent infecting organism in the family of gram-negative bacteria known as enterobacteriaceae.

Symptoms of intestinal infection of E.coli include diarrhea, abdominal pain, and fever. More severe cases can lead to bloody diarrhea, dehydration, or even kidney failure. People with weakened immune systems, pregnant women, young children, and older adults are at increased risk for developing these complications.
