Chocolate Gooey Brownie recalled due to possible contamination of Peanut Allergen
Salt & Straw Ice Cream is recalling it’s product named Chocolate Gooey Brownie pints because of possible contamination of peanuts.
The product is safe to consume unless one has a peanut allergy or sensitivity. No illnesses have been reported to date in connection with this problem.
The recall was initiated after receiving notification from the chocolate supplier about the possible cross-contact of chocolate chips with a peanut allergen.
Peanut allergy is one of the most common food allergies. Peanuts can cause a severe, potentially life-threatening allergic reaction. Allergic reactions can be unpredictable, and even very small amounts of peanut can cause one.
To prevent an allergic reaction, the only solution is to avoid peanut and peanut products.
The product subject to recall was sold in Salt & Straw ice cream shops in California, Oregon, Washington, and through www.saltandstraw.com between 7/17/18 and 8/13/18 and can be identified with the following plant and lot codes:
