FSSAI fixes deadlines of five days to submit test reports

FSSAI fixes deadlines of five days to submit test reports

FSSAI has prescribed a time limit for referral laboratories to submit the testing reports of their analysis. FSSAI has addressed the labs to submit their report within given time period of 5 days after getting samples for either chemical or microbiological testing.

This deadline can be extended for more 5 days depending on the nature of the analysis method/procedure.

N Bhaskar, advisor of quality and assurance, FSSAI, said, “The referral labs are hereby directed to send their analysis reports within five working days after the receipt of the samples for chemical as well as microbiological testing and not more than 10 days in case of samples involving extended microbiological testing, like clostridium spores in the case of canned foods.” The order has been implemented with immediate effect.

Meanwhile, the apex food regulator has also released a testing manual for analysis of cereals and cereal products.

This decision of FSSAI for prescribed laboratories will ensure faster and accurate results. Hence, this can be concluded that the initiative taken by FSSAI is a notable one and this will improve the efficiency of reports and avoid further confusion and doubts. It will certainly prove beneficial in the long run.
