Vulto Creamery in New York was shut down because of GMP violations. Major violations found in creamery include:

Significant changes to the 2017 Food Code include the following:

  • Employees not using procedure for equipment and utensil cleaning and sanitizing .
  • Failure to store cleaned and sanitized transportable equipment in a location and manner which protects food-contact surfaces from contamination.
  • Clean, sanitized wood boards, used to hold RTE cheeses, were stored under unhygienic conditions.
  • Wooden boards used in the plant not appropriately cleaned and sanitized.
  • Condensation found dripping from the horizontal stainless steel cheese press bar directly onto the draining table below, on which molded cheese products were placed to drain whey.
  • Employees not washing their arms before putting them in whey to stir and break up in-process cheese curds.
